Benin - The Court of Appeal sitting in Benin-City, Edo State has nullified the election of Senator Ighoyota Amori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as senator representing Delta Central senatorial district in the Senate, reports Vanguard.
The court declared the senatorial candidate of Labour Party in the March 28 2015 election, Obaisi Ovie Omo-Agege as winner of the election.
Delivering the judgment, Justice H. A. Barka in the lead decision, set aside the verdict of the lower tribunal which upheld the declaration of Senator Amori as winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Omo-Agege,was a one-time Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG) and chieftain of the PDP until his defection to the Labour Party in the run-up to the 2015 general election.
With the victory of Omo-Agege, the number of PDP senators in Delta State has been reduced from three to two.
